Empower Students to Make Healthy Choices

College life is all about choices, and we want to help students make the best ones.

That’s why, a few years ago, we participated in a randomized control trial funded by the National Institute on Alcohol and Alcoholism (NIAAA) and led by researchers at UNCG to target the intersection between alcohol use and sexual behaviors, and the impacts that alcohol use can have in increasing college student’s risk for acquiring an STI.

The result? itMatters.

itMatters is a set of online modules for college students with behavioral strategies, tools and campus resources proven to help students make informed, healthy choices.

Why Implement itMatters?

Grounded in prevention science, itMatters targets the intersection of alcohol and sexual risk behaviors, sexual violence prevention, mental wellness and sleep wellness.

● itMatters was developed in collaboration with Student Affairs administrators at UNCG and beyond.

● itMatters is customized to your college campus—including branding and inclusion of campus resources—and Prevention Strategies supports the full implementation.

“itMatters is a comprehensive resource that allows us to educate students and provide them with important resources about health and well-being—and also learn about the behaviors that they're engaged in—which helps us plan future programming.”
