The NCAA Sport Science Institute (SSI)

The aim of the SSI is to provide college athletes with the best environment for safety, excellence, and wellness through research, education, best practices, and collaboration with member schools, national governing bodies, key medical & youth sport organizations, and the public & private sectors. The Freshman Experience is an online curriculum developed by Prevention Strategies for SSI. It promotes well-being in freshmen student-athletes through healthy behavioral strategies with modules like Alcohol & Other Drugs, Sexual Violence Prevention, Sleep Wellness, Mental Well-being, Time Management, and Your Sport Nutrition.

The NAIA

The National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) is a governing body of small athletics programs dedicated to character-driven intercollegiate athletics and the provision of tools and opportunities supporting the institutional strategic priorities of its members. Prevention Strategies’ myPlaybook is the fundamental program of the NAIA Academy, providing innovative techniques to foster healthy decision-making skills.

The NFL Foundation/The InSideOut Initiative

The InSideOut Initiative (ISOI) is a national movement empowering and equipping school communities to implement purpose-based athletics by connecting student-athletes to transformational coaches in a nurturing community. Through the ISOI System and ISOI Philosophy, schools redefine and reframe the educational value of sports as a platform to develop the human potential of students through social-emotional and character development. Prevention Strategies provides evaluation of the implementation and impact of the ISOI for the NFL Foundation in school communities across the United States.

D.A.R.E. America

D.A.R.E. is a police officer-led series of classroom lessons teaching children healthy decision-making skills to resist peer pressure and lead productive lives free from drugs and violence. Prevention Strategies provides systematic evaluation of elementary and middle school programs delivered by trained D.A.R.E. Officers to determine effectiveness, submit results for scientific publication, and help D.A.R.E. America qualify (to the degree possible) “keepin’ it REAL” as an evidence-based program.

The Hilinski’s Hope Foundation

The Hilinski’s Hope Foundation, founded in 2018 by Mark and Kym Hilinski, honors the life of their son, Tyler, who died by suicide January 16, 2018. The mission is to educate, advocate, and remove the stigma associated with mental illness while also providing program funding for tools and resources supporting the mental health and wellness of student-athletes. The program’s goal is identifying effective strategies to increase adoption and implementation of best practices for understanding and supporting student-athlete mental wellness at all NCAA-member institutions.

U.S. Center for SafeSport

The U.S. Center for SafeSport strives to make athlete well-being the centerpiece of the nation’s sports culture through abuse prevention, education, and accountability. Prevention Strategies’ report findings serve to reinforce SafeSport’s education content, policies, and communication toolkits for administrators of sporting national governing bodies by repackaging content into digestible pieces and delivering them over time, reinforcing learning, and improving engagement.

USADA

The U.S. Anti-Doping Agency (USADA) manages the anti-doping program for all U.S. Olympic & Paralympic Committee (USOPC) recognized sport national governing bodies, athletes, and events. The Agency oversees in-competition and out-of-competition testing, results management processes, drug reference resources, and athlete education for USOPC. They also administrate the UFC Anti-Doping Program. USADA contributes to the advancement of clean sport through scientific research, education, and outreach initiatives focused on awareness and prevention. Prevention Strategies has assisted with project points including a research study investigating the prevalence of doping by Olympic and Paralympic athletes.

McCrae Williams Foundation

Formed in memory of McCrae James Williams, the Foundation’s mission is to advocate for the importance of Good Samaritan policies and bring national attention to the dangerous practice of “JanSporting” (also known as Backpacking, DrunkPacking, or Turtling). Preventive Strategies analyzed the organization’s data for scholarly articles to aid in raising awareness of JanSporting and Good Samaritan policies, expanding the reach and work of this valuable endeavor.
